Dr. Piero Anversa obtained his MD degree at the University of Parma, Italy. He is Professor of Anaesthesia and Medicine, Director, Center for Regenerative Medicine, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has been honored as a Distinguished Scientist and with a Research Achievement Award by the American Heart Association. His research has been focused on myocardial death, growth and regeneration under physiologic and pathophysiologic conditions. He has promoted and identified the critical role that resident cardiac stem cells and hematopoietic stem cells have in the repair of the failing heart. He has authored more than 316 peer-reviewed publications.
